AgriScience

This course is designed to introduce students to concepts of agriculture and natural resource management through the production of their food from the ground up! The class enables students to actively engage with industry professionals as they learn to handle livestock, manage plant systems for crop production, and gain experience with forestry and fisheries. There will be a strong emphasis on career readiness. Through this course students will develop leadership skills and earn scholarships by participating in FFA, a national student organization for students in agriculture education.

Student Experiences

  • Investigate the impact of the agricultural industry on population, food, energy, and environment
  • Analyze the use of renewable energy sources in agriculture (i.e., wind, solar, biofuels, etc.)
  • Demonstrate plant germination, growth, and development
  • Grow and monitor seasonal vegetables
  • Explore the use of alternative livestock in animal agriculture
  • Recognize animal behaviors to facilitate safely working with animals
