Teaching Your Student to be Financially Responsible

The Department of Elementary Curriculum and Professional Learning is helping children become financially responsible with a special seminar class called "How Money Works for Kids".

A professional investment advisor presented the seminar last week and covered numerous topics such as how to create good money habits, how to be a good example with money, and how to teach your children to understand how money works.

Jamie Wolf, who has two students who attend QCUSD schools, attended the seminar to help improve her financial responsibility.

"I wanted to find a way that was healthy to guide my kids in a responsible way," said Wolf.

Although Wolf's children are under the age of eight, she says she likes the information shared about the importance of teaching her children about money, even at a young age.

"I think it is important to talk to our kids about money, so they will be better set," said Wolf. "I want my kids to be set up the best they can be."
